Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM), is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to remove certain rectal polyps and early stage rectal tumors that can’t be removed by colonoscopic resection. Tumors located high inside the rectum can now be removed using the TEM technique and specialized equipment, that otherwise would be accessible only through more invasive, “open” abdominal surgery.
